There are several theories about the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival, but the most widely accepted and deeply rooted is the one that commemorates Qu Yuan. During the Warring States period, Qu Yuan was devoted to serving his country, yet he was repeatedly ostracized and slandered by the aristocracy. Even after being exiled, his heart remained with the state of Chu. When he learned that the Chu capital, Ying, had fallen to the Qin, he was overcome with grief and indignation and, on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, threw himself into the river, clutching a boulder. To honor his memory, the people rowed boats to search for his body and tossed zongzi into the water to keep fish and shrimp from devouring it. From then on, every year on this day, people have raced dragon boats and eaten zongzi, gradually giving rise to the Dragon Boat Festival.

On December 29, provincial tourism resource survey experts visited our company for an inspection and research tour, with Assistant Factory Director Chen Xiaohui serving as the host. The briefing began with the unique “form” of the roasted chicken, which is shaped like a golden ingot, then moved on to the invention of a “non-fried” coloring technique, and finally to the operation of the intelligent cooking workshop. Interspersed throughout were accounts of how Huabao Gang Roasted Chicken has evolved from a small, family-run operation that once hawked its wares on the streets to today’s large-scale, modern factory. The guide vividly described the production process and development journey of Huabao Gang Roasted Chicken. The experts showed particular interest in our chicken sourcing; Assistant Director Chen explained that the chickens are sourced from partner farms—specifically, mature hens over one and a half years old—which undergo rigorous quarantine upon arrival at the facility and are placed in an eight-hour pre-slaughter observation period before slaughter begins.
